The Blessed Virgin Mary

The Virgin Mary is the first step, in Christian terms, to divinity. She is the mediator of an to god in several ways: she is responsible for taking god and translating him into human form; she is the first line of defense to the wrath of god and she is the first step in reconciling man back to god (i.e., by providing humanity with the savior in the first place). In these ways, she may provide spiritual/psychic growth as well as healing. By tapping into her source, we begin a dialogue with the infinite, which may bring about resolutions, inspirations, or simple comfort. She is the Mother of all mothers.

One or more participants, altered accordingly, may perform this ritual. It may also be performed as an invocation or evocation. Suggested props are rosaries, Santeria or voodoo drumming, votive candles, and salvia.

Purpose: Spiritual healing/awakening/discovery, reconciliation/ atonement, focus of sacred anima, protection from the harshness of masculine deities.

SOI: We do invoke/evoke the Blessed Virgin Mary to reconcile ourselves with the infinite. This can obviously be altered to suit more specific purposes

Drumming begins. "Congregation" begins praying the rosary, in English and Spanish concurrently. This provides a built in glossolalia.

If invocation, candidate begins trance work by inhibitory means. Administrations of salvia work well and are analogous with a curandero theme.

"Priest" gives invocation/evocation, mimicking the role of Gabriel as enunciator.
Invocation:  "Mary, Mother of mothers who translates divinity into mortality and back again, EXALT FLESH! HUMBLE GODS! Cradle this ghost, thy begotten and we shall suckle the wisdom of the ages from thine breast. Encircle me and allow this point to become a line, stretching to infinity.

Virgin Mary then assumes "pieta" posture, sitting upright, arms outstretched (a la the famous Michelangelo sculpture) and receives congregation individually. They may vocalize their needs/intentions to The Virgin, or simply use her as a "space" for communion.

Banishing: Our Father

VERSION #2: (sacrilege and taboo)

This version hinges on the liberating effects of violating sacred taboos. In this case, we have both the desecration of a holy image and the exaltation of Oedipal tendencies,
resulting in the conscious embrace of incestual tendencies. Put another way, the invocation of the Madonna Whore.

Ritual is the same, but invocation reads as thus:
"Hail Mary, full of Grace, sitting on the savior’s face since Our Father popped your cherry. Blessed art thou among women and so hot is your holy of holies that Oedipus can't believe his eyes. Lay with us original sinners now and at the hour of our little death, Amen.

Congregation then flirts and communes with the virgin in a lascivious manner.
